Positive impacts of technology: Increase in part-time work due to companies working 24/7 More people working from home e.g. teleworking Need for flexible and well trained staff Increased number of technical staff to manage network Robots don't have sick days or holidays. Will always produce the same quality.Manual repetitive jobs welding, spraying etc. workers replaced by robots. Development staff- programmers / Analysis design- new systems Website designers- design and create websites/ keep them up-to-date | Negative impacts of technology: Fewer people needed to complete the same amount of work. More automation in factories due increase use of robots for welding, spraying etc Fewer real meeting more Virtual meeting Constant need for training as the system changes Workers in shop reduced as more is brought online On line store are automated so less staff needed Call centre job gone abroad wages are lower (good for the company but bad for the employees) Network managers/ Administrators- keep the network running and backup data |
In conclusion, I believe that the impacts technology have had on us are positive because it has created jobs as we know need people to fix and develop the technology and train new workers into the industry, Moreover technology has bought more skills into the work place instead of manual labour. In addition to this robots don't have sick days whereas humans do, also robots will produce the same quality product every time unlike people which can easily make human errors which are costly for the company, so overall its cheaper for the company to invests in robots to replace workers.
