Spam is and uncensored email (didn't request it), they send them because they want a response or try to sell you something.
Spyware is any kind of programme which stores data, and looks legit and records informarion bout you e.g. sites you visit. Pharming also used to steal data or control machines. This happens by you searching a web server on your device and you are SILENTLY redirected to another site (which looks the same) and tricked into putting in your details into a fake website which allows them to steal data etc.
3. Actions a user can take/ should follow upon getting a suspect email
Do not click on the links, that appear claiming to be big business, even if they look legit. You should also if you want to make sure, phone the company up and ask about it. 1. Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of students using the internet to carry out research.
A benefit of using the internet is there is a wide range of sources of information on the internet such as journals etc. Also the internet enables you to access large amounts of data very quickly. Finally you can design questionnaires etc. very easily and reach a wide target audience. However, the drawbacks of using the internet are you could just copy and paste someone else work, moreover you may find information which is inaccurate or factually wrong. 2. A student wishes to use the internet in order to research a topic.Discuss how the student can assess the reliability and bias of a website. - did not understand this question. 3. A company owns several stores which offer internet shopping to customers. a) Give three advantages to the company of internet shopping. You can reach a wider target audience e.g. people who cant make it to your shop. Also its easier for customers to access the sop if some things wrong etc. Don't need as many employees. b) Give three disadvantages to the company of internet shopping. you have lowered prices as there's increased competition with other shops. have to employ people to keep the online shop working well etc. Products can get damaged when being delivered 4. Describe three differences between a blog and a wiki. A blog is owned by an individual whereas wiki is being updated by many people around the world. A wiki allows multiple users to create, modify and organize web page content in a collaborative manner whereas a blog is a Web site that maintains ongoing posts A blog is multimedia whereas a wiki isnt. Q:Describe the following terms, including how/why each are used and advantages and disadvantages of them:
–Blog –Wiki –Social networking sites A: Blogs are online diaries of events or journals. Blogs can be about anything. Groups, singers, and celebrities have blogs which let people know about their life and what they are doing. Blogs are also used by politicians and for collecting public opinion about certain topics. an advantage is you can share things with friends etc but a disadvantage is anyone can view your blog and know what your doping etc. They are also easy to update. They are simple to set up. Are multimedia. Wiki is a web page that can be viewed and modified by anyone who has a web browser. This means if you have web browser software you can change the content of a web page. The problem with this is that you can alter the web page to post offensive messages etc. Updated easily with only a web browser. Allow people to work together and collaborate in different countries etc Social networking sites: these are virtual communities of people who communicate about a particular subject or interest or just make friends with each other. Members of these sites create their own profiles with information about themselves such as hobbies, likes, and dislikes etc. You have to ensure that you do not reveal too much information about yourself as other can view this information. e.g. paedophiles etc. Q:–Internet shopping -Explain the advantages and disadvantages to companies –Explain the advantages and disadvantages to customers A: Companies: Advantages: You can reach a wider target audience e.g. people who cant make it to your shop. Also its easier for customers to access the sop if some things wrong etc. Don't need as many employees. Disadvantages- you have lowered prices as there's increased competition with other shops. have to employ people to keep the online shop working well etc. Customers: Advantages: They don't have to travel to the shops to get what they need. Also lower prices online because there's more competition. More products available. Disadvantages: Problems with delivery. Things broken etc. Customer cant have instant availability. Q: Internet Access –Explain the advantages and disadvantages to an employer for allowing Internet access to its workers –Explain the advantages and disadvantages of a students using the Internet to carry out research A: Advantages of allowing employees to use the internet are should be able to use communication methods such as instant messages. etc Can complete work quicker. Disadvantages: distractions, can access inappropriate sites which are nothing to do with the work. Security risk. Advantages to students are access to a huge amount of sources of information, e.g. journals books and new stories. You can access large amounts of data very quickly. You can do surveys and questions easily whilst accessing a wide audience. Disadvantages: You can just copy and paste someone else's work. You may find inaccurate and factually incorrect.
In conclusion, I believe that the impacts technology have had on us are positive because it has created jobs as we know need people to fix and develop the technology and train new workers into the industry, Moreover technology has bought more skills into the work place instead of manual labour. In addition to this robots don't have sick days whereas humans do, also robots will produce the same quality product every time unlike people which can easily make human errors which are costly for the company, so overall its cheaper for the company to invests in robots to replace workers.
a) Describe two ways of reducing the risk of RSI:
You can take regular breaks and work in an environment wheres there's enough space to work comfortably. b) There are sometimes safety risk associated with computers. Describe two ways these risk can be minimized. Describe two health issues, other than RSI, caused by the prolong use of computers. For each health issue give a method of prevention. a) headaches and eyes strain can cause blurriness and pain in the head, this can be prevented by keeping your screen clean so its not blurry and taking regular breaks. b) Another health issue is backache this is caused by not sitting up straight etc but can be prevented by using the right equipment e.g. having a chair adjusted to your height. Give two uses of ICT devices which cause RSI, when prolonged. a) mouse b)keyboard Identify two safety issues and how they are caused. a) Electrocution is caused by faults in wires etc b)heavy equipment falling is caused by equipment not being positioned properly. Describe how the following health problems can arise due to the use of computers. Give a different cause for each: RSI in wrists- caused by using a mouse for a long period of time without a break. RSI in fingers- caused by using the keyboard for long periods of time without breaks. headaches- caused by staring at a monitor for long periods of time. back pain- caused by sitting incorrectly for a long period of time. 1. A geography teacher wants to use a computer to monitor the weather conditions using the school weather station.
a) Name three sensors in a weather station: Light Rainfall Wind speed b) Explain why computers are unable to read the data directly from these sensors. They cannot read it directly because computers only understand digital and this information is in the form of analogue. c) What device is needed to enable the computer to read the data? An analogue to digital converter. 2.A school uses a computer controlled green house to grow plants. a) Name three sensors that would be used in the green house: a light sensor A movement sensor A heat sensor b)Explain why an analogue to digital converter is needed when computers are used to control a greenhouse: ADC's are needed because the data from the sensor which tells the computer the light etc is in the form of analogue but the computer (to understand it ) needs it in the form of digital, so the converts converts it for the computer so it can check how well the plants are growing etc. 3.Many homes now have microprocessor controlled burglar alarm systems. a)Name two sensors used in such a system and for each explain at it is used for. A burglar alarm system would have a sensor which detects heat and movement, if a burglar was to move passed it, then the alarm would be sounded. Another sensor they would use is a sound sensor to detect if the burglar makes any sound etc. b)The role of microprocessors in such a system are to detect the heat or sound or light etc (the input) then process this to see if it is a threat(burglar) or the sound increases over a certain level or movement is detected if so then start bleeping or making aloud noise (the output). The noise would then warn you and you can then stop the burglar. c) There are many microprocessors controlled devices in the modern home. Describe the effects of these on peoples lives. Microprocessors have effected many peoples live, e.g. the washing machine is controlled by a microprocessor (Controls the speed the monitor spins in order to rotate the drum during the spinning cycle.) this means people know don't have to do the washing by hand and can spend more time with friends and family etc. 4.A greenhouse is controlled by a microprocessor. a)List three physical variables which would be monitored. Temperature Wind speed Wind direction b)Explain the difference between measurement and control. Measurement is the monitoring of physical variables without the microprocessor taking action whereas control is when the microprocessor takes action depending on sensor readings. c) Give four advantages of using a computer rather than allowing students to control the growing conditions. The computer is more accurate so will therefore give better results. Humans can make human errors whereas computers wont. Computers can be checking the greenhouse constant whereas humans cant. Computers can make immediate changes whereas humans cant. 5.Below is a diagram of a river running past a chemical factory. The same types of sensors, connected to a computer are placed at a and b to monitor pollution of the river by the factory. a)Name three sensors which would need to be placed at both a and b. temperature ph Carbon dioxide b)Describe how the computer would monitor the level of pollution in the river. The computer would monitor the level of pollution by the micro processor logging the information at part a and if its different or worse at part b the computer will give an output which is postive and stops the pollution. |
